Job summary

YMCA of Greater Charlotte is hiring a Facility Technician responsible for maintaining the YMCA’s physical plant and grounds, providing maintenance and mechanical assistance for equipment and systems. The role includes being on-call for facility emergencies and performing both semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities include inspecting the building and grounds, responding to work orders, and coordinating with departments for repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 3-6 years experience in property maintenance of a high-use commercial building with pool/grounds responsibilities.
• Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to perform minor plumbing, electrical repairs, painting and carpentry, and basic locksmith responsibilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
• Implementation of safety/risk standards.
• Basic mechanical ability to diagnose and repair facility equipment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with MS Excel, Outlook, and purchasing software.
• Budget awareness and tracking of spending.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of facility maintenance tasks to ensure a high-quality experience for YMCA members.
• Inspect building and grounds to upgrade facility and ensure safety of members and staff.
• Respond to work orders and emergencies, diagnosing and repairing building equipment.
• Complete maintenance of systems and equipment.
• Coordinate with departments for repairs and manage own schedule.
• Coordinate site appointments for contract labor to ensure quality services.
• Provide risk and safety information and schedule regular safety drills.
• Maintain YMCA tools and equipment in clean, safe condition.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
