Job summary

The Euless Police Department is seeking a Facility Tech/Custodian to perform custodial and maintenance duties for the Police and Court building. You will operate cleaning equipment, assist with HVAC and basic repairs, and handle setup for events and meetings.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Facility Tech/Custodian performs general custodial and maintenance duties related to cleaning the Police Department and Court building, including offices, hallways, restrooms, conference rooms, courtroom, and kitchen/break areas in the Euless Police Department. Must be available to work all shifts – days, evenings, nights, and overtime, as may be assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performance of general custodial and maintenance duties at assigned facilities.
• Operates equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, carpet extractors, and floor cleaners.
• May assist Facility Tech II and III with HVAC preventative maintenance and electrical and plumbing issues.
• Replaces light bulbs, ballasts, light fixtures, electrical outlets, and switches.
• Assists in the repair of windows, doors, shelves, fixtures, furniture, plumbing, and major appliances, and related equipment as directed.
• Assists Facility Technicians II and III in various job duties as needed.
• Dusts and cleans windows and entranceways, mops floors, empties trash, sets up and takes down tables and chairs, and paints and makes deliveries.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of the operation of various maintenance equipment.
• Basic knowledge of methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in facilities maintenance work.
• Basic knowledge of construction and repair methods with good mechanical and technical ability.
• Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair as related to facilities maintenance work.
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to learn and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with City employees and the public.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, including bending, stooping, and reaching.
• Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and tasks.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and files.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in building maintenance preferred. Must have never been convicted, placed on court-ordered community supervision, or probation for any criminal offense above a class B misdemeanor, or been convicted, put on court-ordered community supervision, or probation for any class B misdemeanor within the last ten years from the date of the final court order. Must have never been convicted, placed on deferred adjudication, or probation for any theft or assault family violence offense. Must be in compliance with drug use and tattoo policies of the Euless Police Department. Must obtain and maintain CJIS access.

Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license and/or acquire a Texas Driver’s License and have an acceptable driving record as defined by city policy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employees work in the building and are exposed to chemical, mechanical, and electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Operates equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, carpet extractors, and floor cleaners. May routinely lift objects as part of regular duties. Lifting may sometimes require lifting above shoulder height. Weights range between 10 and 40 pounds routinely.

Pre-employment screening includes, but is not limited to, Drug Screen, Physical Examination, Credit Check, Motor Vehicle Review, and applicable Background Checks.
