Nathan S. Kline Institute in Blauvelt, NY invites applications for a full-time Safety and Security position.

Shift: Monday–Friday 4:00 PM–12:00 AM, overseeing facility safety, monitoring CCTV, responding to emergencies, front desk operations, and routine rounds. Ideal candidates are at least 18, possess or be eligible for New York State Peace Officer Certification, have access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license, and can handle overtime shifts with advance notice.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

JOB DUTIES

• Perform Safety and Security duties for the facility.
• Monitor CCTVs.
• Respond to all emergencies.
• Manage the front desk/lobby area and answer the main phone.
• Make rounds.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Possession or eligibility for possession of New York State Peace Officer Certification (a 7-week peace officer academy in upstate NY).
• Ability to perform physical job responsibilities.
• Must have access to a vehicle and valid, unrestricted driver's license upon hire and continuously thereafter.
• Schedule flexibility to permit as needed site visits to NKI to cover various overtime shifts with advance notice.

Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements

Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. 2) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment
