Position Summary

The Facility Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of facility systems, equipment, and building infrastructure to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant environment. This position supervises maintenance personnel, coordinates preventive maintenance programs, manages work orders, and ensures adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of maintenance and plant services staff.
  • Plan, assign, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance work for facility systems and equipment.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and utility systems.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Prioritize and schedule work orders to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, environmental standards, and organizational policies.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance staff performance.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers for specialized repairs and projects.
  • Maintain maintenance records, equipment histories, and regulatory documentation.
  • Assist in developing and managing departmental budgets, inventory, and purchasing activities.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support facility improvement projects, renovations, and capital equipment installations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems.
  • Understanding of safety regulations, OSHA requirements, and maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
  • Work may be performed in industrial, manufacturing, or commercial facilities.
  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, lifting equipment, and working in varying environmental conditions.
  • May require on-call availability, evenings, weekends, or emergency response duties.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in facilities maintenance, engineering technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–7 years of facility, plant operations, or maintenance experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is desirable.
