Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions seeks an experienced security leader to direct the facility's security department, oversee operations and safety, and drive policy compliance. You will manage staff, reports, and emergencies while aligning with company goals.

A bachelor's in behavioral sciences or related field plus 10 years in mid-management correctional work is required. The role demands strong leadership, planning, and coordination with management, with on-site work at a GEO facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences or related field; courses in business administration.
• Ten years of work experience in a correctional/detention facility at mid-management level.
• Working knowledge of program objectives, policies, correctional laws, court orders, and management of a secure facility.
• Must be a United States citizen or LPR.
• Must have lived in the U.S. for the past five years.
• Must be 21 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Directs security department functions, activities and supervision of security personnel.
• Directly responsible for performance control activities of operations and safety sections.
• Ensures procedures, post orders, training methods, equipment and space in all operations of security.
• Prepares departmental progress and miscellaneous reports as requested by management.
• Reviews activities of operations departments to measure progress toward goals.
• Monitors staff effectiveness and conducts facility inspections for policy compliance.
• Directs the work of other employees, including hiring, evaluating, training, and disciplinary actions.
• Assists in long-range planning and scheduling to meet facility goals.
• Ensures facility staff respond to emergencies appropriately.
• Aids in coordinating community planning for inmate needs.
• Responds 24/7 to significant occurrences; may act as top facility administrator.
• Performs other duties to ensure effective operation of the facility.
