Job summary

Reston Hospital Center is seeking a seasoned Plant Operator to manage daily operations of the central energy plant and core building systems. You will ensure efficient, safe operation of boilers, chillers, AHUs, and medical gas equipment, while planning maintenance and supervising technicians.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, energy efficiency, and inventory stewardship, with opportunities to support continuous improvement and cost control in a major Northern Virginia hospital.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in engineering-related field or cert, 5+ years in Plant Operations.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in Plant Operations in an acute care setting preferred.
• Ability to integrate in department call schedule approx 1 week every 5th week.

Responsibilities

• Operate boilers safely and efficiently, water chemistry and fuel operations.
• Operate chiller plant safely, monitor pressures and temperatures.
• Operate medical gas source equipment safely and reliably.
• Operate AHUs to maintain space temperatures and cleanliness.
• Report to facility management leadership and monitor equipment.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and documentation with platforms.
