Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) seeks candidates for a facility operations specialist at the Southwest District Office in Springfield, MO. This entry through senior level opening offers a CAREER-LADDER path with advancement based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance of building interiors, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, and occasional complex renovations. The role may involve outdoor work, and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/HiSET.
• Two years post-secondary education and experience in building repair and maintenance (carpentry, electrical, facilities operation and management, HVAC, or related).
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

• Assist with complex building repairs and renovations.
• Build and assemble cabinets, shelving, counter tops, bookcases, tables and baseboards; move and assemble furniture and partitions.
• Perform outdoor maintenance such as landscaping, mowing, and snow removal.
• May install and service liquid chlorine and salt brine pumps at salt buildings.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience in a building repair and maintenance field such as carpentry, electrical wiring, facilities operation and management, HVAC, or related.
• Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

Special Working Conditions:

• Job may require occasional, statewide, overnight, travel.
• Job requires heavy physical exertion and effort.
• Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
• Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.

Successful candidates with the above qualifications will be considered for one of the three levels based on knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Entry salary - $ 41,685.12
• Intermediate salary - $48,621.60
• Senior salary - $52,511.52
