Job summary

The Commons on 16th seeks a Facilities & Maintenance Director to oversee maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and readiness of our supportive housing facility in Cedar Rapids. This hands-on leader will manage repairs, preventative tasks, vendor coordination, and grounds upkeep to ensure a welcoming space for residents, staff, and partners.

The ideal candidate is proactive, reliable, and skilled in facility operations, dedicated to mission impact through stewardship of the property.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical training or certification in building maintenance, facilities management, construction, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, property management, construction, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the facility (plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting, carpentry, furniture repair).
• Complete preventative maintenance inspections to identify issues before they become problems.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
