Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants seeks a Project Engineer - Facility Mod Manager to support centrifuge fabrication equipment and major facility expansion at Centrus Energy in Oak Ridge, TN. The role involves directing engineering activities, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and project readiness throughout the expansion lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in engineering, 8+ years in regulated environments, and the ability to obtain DOE Q

Qualifications

• Must pass a federal background investigation to obtain DOE Q security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Experience leading engineering projects or small technical teams.
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, rotating machinery, tooling systems, and production equipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Q-level security clearance.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct engineering activities focused on centrifuge fabrication equipment and facility expansion systems.
• Provide daily leadership, task coordination, and technical support to engineering staff; oversee development, modification, and installation of fabrication equipment and infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and nuclear material handling rules.
• Support troubleshooting, system optimization, reliability improvements, and upgrades to fabrication equipment and facility systems.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, construction, procurement, safety engineering, and project management teams.
• Develop project schedules, engineering cost estimates, technical specifications, and procurement packages for expansion activities.
• Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses, risk assessments, and system readiness evaluations.
• Review and approve engineering documentation including drawings, calculations, test procedures, and commissioning plans.
• Monitor contractor and vendor performance to ensure technical and quality requirements are met.
• Provide status updates to senior leadership on equipment performance, project progress, and risks.
• Ensure engineering activities meet site security protocols and support DOE Q clearance requirements.
