AFRL Detachment 1 seeks to hire a motivated and experienced mid-level engineer to serve as a Facility Mechanical Engineer in the Engineering Services Branch. This position will be filled at the DR-02 level (GS-12/13 equivalent) and is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

Position Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Embedded facility sustainment engineering role serving the Air Warfare Directorate's Platform Systems & Propulsion division R&D facility plant spanning 29+ buildings, ensuring reliable operations, streamlined maintenance, critical repair project execution, and advanced planning for all manner of mechanical infrastructure systems enabling research capabilities.
• Performs plans, studies, analyses and technical evaluations of concepts and designs for Directorate RDT&E equipment, real property mechanical systems and research and R&D support equipment, capabilities and facilities.
• Serves as a consultant to Directorate scientific and engineering personnel in mechanical engineering, facility engineering, facility operation, and project management.
• Performs design, specification, configuration, programming and checkout of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, specialty lab utility, and building automation control systems associated with propulsion R&D facility systems.
• Applies engineering theory, practices and principles to improve system performance, accuracy, safety and reliability.
• Provides technical direction to resolve field-related process and mechanical system problems across both support technicians and S&E workforce.
• Prepares long and short range plans for R&D support equipment, capabilities, and facilities for out-year budget submissions.

Desired Qualifications
