About The Role

The Facility Manager will provide exceptional leadership to develop/sustain a high-performing culture to achieve and/or exceed operational budget commitments. Responsibilities include developing O&M budgets/forecasts, Long-Term Maintenance Plans, and ensuring safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally responsible plant operations. The role encompasses all aspects of facility end-to-end O&M activities, including waste reception, processing, thermal treatment, and by-product removal, as well as managing systems such as Boilers, Turbine Generators, Metals, Ash Handling, and BOP Auxiliary Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide leadership for safety, health, and environmental excellence, ensuring 100% compliance with policies, procedures, and permits, and proactively monitoring KPIs.
  2. Embed Values & Behaviors into daily operations to build a high-performing culture of excellence.
  3. Lead during transients, casualties, and emergencies to protect employees, environment, and assets.
  4. Develop budgets and forecasts to maximize P&L/EBITDA/FCF, including contingency planning.
  5. Oversee outage planning and execution, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
  6. Manage maintenance activities to meet reliability and production targets, including proactive maintenance and Long-Term Maintenance Plans.
  7. Supervise project development (capital and maintenance) ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
  8. Ensure operational activities meet reliability and production goals, including inspections, startup/shutdown procedures, and shift turnovers.
  9. Use data, lessons learned, and KPIs to drive operational excellence and decision-making.
  10. Promote a Lean mindset to continuously improve revenue, reduce costs, and enhance production.
  11. Collaborate with regional, corporate, and external experts on emergent issues.
  12. Act as the primary interface for day-to-day operations and technical issues, maintaining exemplary customer focus.
  13. Remain engaged and on-call to ensure safe, reliable operations, including travel as needed.
  14. Train staff for emergency response and community outreach to support positive community relations.
Experience & Position Requirements
  1. At least 10 years of experience in waste-to-energy or utility power generation facilities, with 5 years leading operations and/or maintenance teams. Prior Plant/Facility Manager experience is highly desired.
  2. Minimum 5 years in outage planning/execution and project management (capital and routine maintenance).
  3. Proven leadership in safety, environmental excellence, and fostering a high-performing culture.
  4. Experience with developing and managing budgets, and maintaining client relationships.
  5. Strong Lean mindset and continuous improvement experience.
  6. Ability to build and improve processes/systems and drive cultural change.
  7. Experience interacting with regulators, legislators, and community organizations.
Education & Certifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical, or business; Master’s preferred. Relevant experience may substitute.
  2. ASME CFO certification is highly desired and required if not already held.
  3. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher is highly desirable and required if not already held.
  4. PMP certification is highly desirable.
