General Description
Under general supervision of the comprehensive school Principal or designee, the Plant Manager plans, organizes and manages the day to day facilities-related operations for the site. The Plant Manager supervises the site-based maintenance and operations staff to ensure that facilities support the learning environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate activities of the site maintenance and operations staff
- Ensure scheduling of maintenance and grounds activities have a minimal impact on instruction
- Manage the site maintenance and operations budget, providing continuous control over all direct expenses
- Manage the District’s work order system for the site maintenance and operations, providing for timely and effective maintenance and cleanliness of facilities and grounds
- Coordinate purchasing of all site operations supplies with District Purchasing Director and Coordinator of Maintenance, Operations & Transportation
- Provide for all necessary Staff training either in-house or through appropriate outside sources
- Meet regularly with site administrators and staff to determine site needs and provide for effective use of resources
- Evaluate all staff and provide input to the Principal regarding hiring and promotion recommendations

- Ensure chemical inspections are current and maintains regulatory compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets
- Evaluate site for equity in furniture, fixtures, and equipment
- In conjunction with outside contractors, maintain site fire alarms, panels and fire sprinkler systems
- Serve as site liaison to the Facilities Department for construction projects

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Knowledge of hand and power tools, materials, equipment, methods, and terminology used in various building trades, custodial and groundskeeping work; building construction practices, and local and State laws affecting the construction and repair of school buildings; safe work practices and safety regulation; principles and techniques of supervision
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings
- Moderate competency in word processing and spreadsheet software programs
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; AA degree desirable
- Demonstrated ability to supervise others effectively

ENVIRONMENT: District maintenance shop, school and other buildings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting, bending and carrying. Moderate to heavy physical effort.
