Job summary

YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a reliable Facilities Technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on YMCA buildings, mechanical equipment, and grounds. You will oversee day-to-day operations, safety, and preservation of facilities to ensure a safe, functional environment for members and staff.

Responsibilities include inspecting and repairing Building Trades and MEP systems, coordinating with external vendors, ordering parts, conducting weather prep, and traveling to other

• Ability to read simple instructions and write basic correspondence.
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspects daily; troubleshoots and repairs building trades and MEP deficiencies.
• Oversees grounds, landscaping, and pool maintenance.
• Responds to emergency maintenance and coordinates with outside vendors.
• Orders maintenance supplies and monitors inspections.
• Travels to other Association properties as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repairs on YMCA buildings, mechanical equipment, and grounds. General responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of facilities, as well as their ongoing preservation.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Plans, coordinates, and supervises the operation of the assigned facility, including access, custodial, grounds, HVAC, maintenance and repair of the facilities, safety, and security.
• Inspects facilities daily; troubleshoots and performs repairs to Building Trades (carpentry, painting, locks, roofs, windows, ceilings, flooring) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) deficiencies.
• Oversees facility grounds, landscaping, and pool maintenance.
• Responds to and arrests emergency maintenance concerns as required.
• Identifies potential safety hazards and mitigates risk exposure related to grounds and physical structures.?
• Conducts preventative maintenance to HVAC equipment and building systems.
• Conducts severe weather preparation.
• Transports, relocates, or disposes of office equipment and furniture.
• Consults with outside vendors for estimates on repairs and replacements.
• Orders maintenance supplies, materials, and parts as needed.
• Oversees quarterly and annual systems inspections, as required.
• Monitors site cleanliness and escalates concerns to Facilities Dept. leadership
• Travels to other Association properties, as needed.
• Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Minimum of 2-3 years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance related areas.
• Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy
• Able to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

• CPR and First Aid Certifications required
• Annual Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training
• Annual Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class
• Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols
• Pool Operator Certification
• Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
