Job summary

YMCA OF SOUTHWEST FLORIDA. is seeking a maintenance technician to perform routine and extensive preventive maintenance and repairs on buildings and mechanical equipment.

The role includes minor and major repairs, window/door work, flooring, plumbing, electrical tasks, and responding to emergencies. The position emphasizes safety, adherence to cleaning protocols, and supporting renovations and painting projects as part of ongoing facilities upkeep.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of 2-3 years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance related areas.
• Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy
• Able to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening.

• Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
• Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; interior and exterior painting.
• Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.
• Other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

• CPR and First Aid Certifications required
• Annual Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training
• Annual Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class
• Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols
• Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
