Job Description

The Facilities Manager oversees the maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment, and machinery. They assist in planning maintenance activities in line with operational goals, maintain a preventative maintenance program, and manage a spare parts inventory to ensure efficient operations.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Identify current and future maintenance requirements by liaising with management, engineering, technicians, operators, and other personnel. Recommend and participate in capital improvement projects.
  2. Prepare an annual maintenance budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions. Negotiate with suppliers to obtain required parts and services.
  3. Determine work priorities and schedule repairs, maintenance, and installation of machinery, tools, and equipment to support production operations.
  4. Support process equipment development and improvement by reviewing new processing plans, discussing equipment needs with engineering personnel, and coordinating activities of direct reports.
  5. Manage facility utilities by overseeing installation, modification, and maintenance of utility systems.
  6. Design, implement, and modify preventative maintenance programs based on production, quality control, and maintenance reports. Inspect machinery and systems for compliance with standards.
  7. Lead maintenance operations by coordinating programs, enforcing policies, and being on-call to minimize downtime.
  8. Resolve maintenance issues through collaboration with management, engineering, and quality teams.
  9. Maintain a safe and clean working environment, ensuring compliance with GMP and regulatory standards, including pest control and custodial services.
  10. Serve as safety coordinator by training employees, maintaining safety awareness, and overseeing calibration programs.
  11. Schedule and assign departmental tasks, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and licensing requirements.
  12. Maintain professional skills through workshops, publications, and professional societies.
  13. Manage and coordinate facility maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleanroom, building systems, janitorial, recycling, lab waste, and access control. Support ISO requirements and other related duties.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. A minimum of five (5) years in a facility maintenance environment with knowledge of mechanics, electrical, and electronic applications. Excellent communication skills, knowledge of OSHA, EPA, animal handling, and regulations. Detail-oriented, organized, adaptable, customer service focused, and capable of multi-tasking.
