Job summary

The Kentucky School for the Deaf is hiring a Facility Maintenance Worker I in Danville, KY. The role offers full-time hours (Mon-Fri, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) with overtime eligibility and a salary of $28,785.60 per year.

Responsibilities include grounds upkeep, janitorial duties, basic electrical and HVAC tasks, painting, carpentry, and general maintenance. ASL skills are preferred. Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Maintains grounds upkeep: cuts grass, trims shrubs, lawn trimming, cleans debris and maintains roads/playground equipment.
• Performs janitorial duties; changes light bulbs and minor electrical tasks.
• Makes electrical and HVAC repairs; assists with changing HVAC filters.
• Paints surfaces, operates equipment, keeps records, and assists skilled tradesperson.
• Makes carpentry repairs to buildings and equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the general upkeep of grounds areas. Cut grass, trim shrubbery, lawn trimming, spray weeds, leaf removal, storm damage and debris cleanup. Clean and maintain roads and playground equipment.
• Perform janitorial duties in maintaining buildings and adjacent areas. Change light bulbs and other minor electrical work when required
• Make electrical repairs and minor repairs to heating and ventilating equipment. Assist with changing HVAC filter
• Paint surfaces and operates machinery and equipment. Keep records and assist skilled trades person.
• Make carpentry repairs to buildings and equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The hours of this position are Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Working Conditions

Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures. Must follow safety procedures, such as utilization of eye and ear protection, when utilizing certain mechanical equipment.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
