Job summary

Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician I for the Charlotte Convention Center. This full-time role supports electrical work, structure buildup and teardown, and general building maintenance.

You will help lead maintenance and repair projects, ensure setups meet client and department expectations, perform teardown after events, and maintain HVAC and lighting systems while coordinating with vendors.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma and a minimum of 1-2 years of schooling or related experience or training is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintenance and repair in electrical, structure buildup and teardown, and general building maintenance.
  • May lead maintenance and repair projects at the Charlotte Convention Center.
  • Work with team to ensure setup is done to meet client and department expectations.
  • Teardown shows and cleans up areas for next scheduled event.
  • Maintain all equipment in facility that is part of the heating and cooling systems.
  • Ensure proper light setup prior to all events.
  • Coordinate with vendors on facility floor to ensure accuracy of detailed floor plans.
  • Assist Facility Maintenance team members with painting, carpentry, dry wall repair, etc.
  • On-call one week per month, as needed, to support event operations or facility needs.

Job Summary

Facility Maintenance Technician assists in maintenance and repair in areas of electrical, structure buildup and teardown, and general building maintenance at the Charlotte Convention Center

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in multiple disciplines preferred, including but not limited to
    • Electrical
    • Plumbing
    • HVAC
    • Ice Technician
    • Carpentry/Painting
    • Mechanical Trades (doors, locks, alarm systems, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain adherence to quality, safety, and the timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Ability to foster and work well within a team environment.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and always maintaining a professional atmosphere.
  • Ability to anticipate customer needs, builds positive relationships with customers and vendors, goes the extra mile to satisfy and exceed customer needs, treats all customers and vendors with highest degree of respect and courtesy and delivers exceptional service to internal and external customers.

Education and Experience

  • A High School Diploma and a minimum of 1-2 years of schooling or related experience or training is required.

Areas of for the Venue Facility Maintenance programs may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Electrical – Works with electrical system from 480 volts up to 600 volts.
  • Plumbing Knowledge of commercial fixtures and all accessories.
  • HVAC (boilers and chillers)
  • Knowledge of Metasys building automation system
  • Mechanical Trades (doors, locks, alarm systems, etc.)

Physical Demands

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must regularly use power hand tools.
  • The noise level in the work environment could vary depending on the setting.

Travel Required

  • This job requires travel between local venues.
