Job summary

Ozarks Technical Community College is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician I for the Springfield campus. This role performs skilled trades including plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and snow removal, with a focus on routine maintenance, repairs, and renovations.

JOB TITLE: FACILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES & GROUNDS

SALARY RANGE: $40,560 FLSA: NON-EXEMPT

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Springfield Campus Operations Supervisor

SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time/12-month position/PEERS

Position Summary

This hands-on general maintenance role will perform skilled trade tasks to assist in maintaining facilities, (i.e., plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, furniture moving and snow removal). Schedule and perform routine maintenance, repairs, and renovations as needed.

Essential Job Duties
  • Utilize work order system to schedule and complete maintenance requests.
  • Willing to attend certification training as required and maintain re-certification, as necessary.
  • Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to assisting with moving furniture, heavy equipment and supplies, snow removal, attending college functions, serving on committees and attending community events.
  • Operate company vehicles, equipment, and hand tools to complete assignments.
Non-Essential Job Duties
  • Maintain storage area for supplies and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of carpentry, maintenance, plumbing systems, and electrical components.
  • Working knowledge of flooring systems including repairs and full installation.
  • Working knowledge of building structures including roofing systems, ceiling, and wall construction.
  • Ability to conduct a planned program of preventive maintenance.
  • Capacity to order supplies, equipment and materials as needed.
  • Identify, install, and repair equipment which requires the understanding of blueprints.
  • Attend employee in-service programs to improve work performance.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Utilize technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Strong working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in building maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Problem solving aptitude.
  • Physical stamina that will allow for long periods of standing and kneeling.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with employees and students in a pleasant manner.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Competence to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Willingness to work outside normal work hours and weekends as needed to complete projects, emergency calls, and or snow removal.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Five years construction knowledge within a commercial setting.
  • Experience in one or more trades including painting, drywall repair, carpentry, plumbing, door hardware, locks, electrical, HVAC, controls and hardware for fire, security, and lighting systems.
  • Experience working within a collegiate setting.
