The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI) is seeking a Maintenance Repairer to join our team. This is a full-time position with a Tuesday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

schedule. The Maintenance Repairer performs skilled maintenance work for the facility with experience in carpentry and construction, cabinetry, shelving, and other trades to ensure the safety of patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time work experience in two or more of the recognized building and mechanical trades (carpentry, electrical, heating and air conditioning, machinist, machine repair, masonry, painting, pipefitting, plumbing, refrigeration, and welding).
• Three years of a combination of experience and education, where thirty semester hours of post high school education in an accredited building or mechanical vocational program equals one year of experience.
• Current and continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes two years of full-time work as a Trades Helper.

Responsabilités

• Perform skilled maintenance work for the facility.
• Experience in carpentry and construction including building cabinets and shelving.
• Repair of buildings and other structures.
• Maintain basic knowledge of trades such as electrical, plumbing, machine repair, painting, welding.
• Ensure safety of patients and staff through routine maintenance.
