Job summary

NC State University is seeking a General Shops Member in Housing - Facilities Administration to perform semi-skilled and skilled manual tasks in HVAC, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. The role supports the Facilities Unit and residential maintenance across dormitories.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, deliveries, material disposal, and helping with projects, while keeping tools and shop in good order. Lifting requirements and weather considerations apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Responsibilities

• Performing preventative maintenance tasks throughout the residence halls.
• Assisting residential areas with pick up and deliveries.
• Properly disposing of unwanted materials as needed.
• Assisting residential areas with maintenance projects.
• Maintaining condition of department vehicles, tools, supplies, and shop environment.
• Assisting with retrieval and closing of work orders.
• Lifting up to 60 pounds frequently and up to 90 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations.
