Job Requirements

The City of Onalaska is seeking to hire a Facility Maintenance Technician and Lead at the Omni Center. These are considered Limited Term Employment positions.

Scheduled hours vary for each event, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Employees are responsible for building maintenance and event functions, performing tasks as directed by the Building Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions

• Set up and takedown of equipment for events, restoring the building afterwards.
• Enforce safety rules and protocols at the Omni Center.
• Identify and report building, equipment, or supply issues.
• Assist in ice maintenance activities such as resurfacing, flooding, patching, and edging.
• Perform general building maintenance including cleaning, restocking, floor care, window cleaning, and outside maintenance.
• Handle opening procedures and secure the building after events.
• Meet customer needs during events and ensure safety and cleanliness of the facility.
• Maintain professionalism and effective working relationships, handle stressful situations calmly, and be flexible.
• Contribute to a cooperative work environment and assist with other job-related tasks as needed.

Lead Facility Maintenance Technician Responsibilities

• Lead a crew in event setup and takedown, and restore the building.
• Assist in ice maintenance duties.
• Provide direction to part-time staff in the absence of a supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; minimum 18 years old.
• Good communication skills, ability to work independently, and follow instructions.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Experience in facility maintenance, ice arena operations, or custodial duties preferred for lead role.
