Watchfire Signs, LLC seeks an Installation/Maintenance Technician to service our Houston plant. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain lighting display equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and document activities for traceability and safety.

The role requires OSHA-compliant work practices, good communication with teammates, and a hands-on approach to solving mechanical and electrical issues on site.

Qualifications

  • Reading/writing English; understand instructions and share information clearly.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to reduce repair times.
  • Professional communication with crew and contractors.
  • Completion of OSHA training within 3 months of hire.
  • Two references from previous employers or instructors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Communicate findings verbally, in writing, and via computer to team members.
  • Operate controls, diagnose issues by vibration/noise/visual cues, and test repairs.
  • Coordinate vendor parts, manuals, and industry standards for repairs.
  • Manage maintenance logs using CMMS and ensure equipment readiness.

Together, Spectrum by Watchfire continues to set new standards across K–16 education, municipal, professional sports, and recreational facilities. The Installation Technician is a key member in the installation department, responsible for delivering and assembling our products for customers.

The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Manufacturing and Service Manager.This is an intermediate skill level position that requires an individual who demonstrates excellent technical and mechanical skills, an efficient grasp of troubleshooting methods, good documentation and communication skills, an understanding of mechanized equipment, and the motivation to problem-solve and develop solutions.This person is responsible for safe and professional troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining equipment, and maintaining repair logs at the Houston Plant (Plasma cutters, CNC turret punches, brake presses, paint booths, and painting equipment).This person is also responsible for coordinating maintenance and maintaining logs for the facility and fleet of service vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Use a wide variety of tools tomaintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment.Conduct preventive maintenance tasks and audits of machine condition(s) related to preventive maintenance.
  • Communicate verbally, in-writing, and electronically via computer to other team members andcomprehendcommunication received from team members in the same fashion.
  • Operate machines controls and manipulate machines manually to perform troubleshooting or return machines to operatingcondition.Perform in-process diagnosis of equipment based on vibration, noise, and sight.
  • Conduct research to find replacement parts, technical manuals, industry standards, vendors for repairs, etc.
  • Set-up fixtures and work holding devices, check assembly clearances, assemble mechanical machine components and test for proper function.Replace/add fluids, greases, filters, belts, chains, etc.
  • Interpret engineering prints, OEM assembly drawings, ladder diagrams, schematics, etc. Visuallyidentifymachine components. (i.e.motor starter, disconnect, fuse, PLC, solenoid valve, linear rail, flow switch, etc.)
  • Ensure thatall installationvehicles and equipment are in good working order and properlymaintained.
  • Coordinate with contractors to manage facilities maintenance andmaintainrecords
  • Use CMMS to keep a log of all equipment repairs
  • Operate all installation trucks and production equipment.
  • Manage and organize expense reports for equipment repair.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, & crouch in and around tightly configured spaces.Must consistently lift and carry 10 pounds and lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Travel to vendors and mechaniclocationsas necessary.
  • Regular hours are daytime M-F. NOTE: Priority equipment repairs will require additional hours and weekends.

RequiredQualifications/Skills:

  • Proficient in reading/writing/typing in English. Comprehend written, visual, and verbal instructions.Experience presenting information in small group situations. Excellent reasoning skills related to cause and effect.
  • Excellent ability toidentifycritical troubleshooting details to minimize repair times.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with production employees and contractors in a professional and effective manner.
  • Exceptional teamwork, communication, time management, data processing, multi-tasking skills, with an understanding of urgency and critical issues isrequired.
  • Completion of 10hr in OSHA 1910 and/or 1926 within 3 months of hire date.
  • (2) written work-related recommendations from previous/current employers, or instructors, or co-workers

RequiredEducationand Licensing

  • Minimum 2 years of Facilities Maintenance, similar work experience,or aJourneyman'scard in a Building/Construction Trade.
  • Two yearsofcommercial electrical experience in an industrial environment and/or accredited training from a trade school or college.
  • Strong experience with computers,internet,smartphone/tablet, and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
