Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance and repairs at our service center, ensuring a safe and compliant environment. The role involves coordinating with vendors and internal teams to schedule, supervise, and complete repairs while maintaining facility assets.

You will work with the Facility Maintenance team to manage in-house and third-party repairs, conduct inspections, and ensure adherence to DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, carpentry and plumbing skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work alone or with a team.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills for documentation and coordination.
• PC experience and ability to use maintenance software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair service center facility, shop, grounds and dock area.
• Ensure compliance with all company standards and safety codes during inspections.
• Act as liaison for facility maintenance needs among staff and vendors.
• Conduct weekly facility, yard, and fence walks and perform preventative maintenance.
• Repair or replace doors, pallets, HVAC components and other equipment as needed.
• Apply ice melt, perform snow removal and basic landscaping when applicable.
• Schedule work with vendors and review service agreements.
• Coordinate in-house and third-party repairs with the team and track progress.
• Comply with laws, company policies, and perform other duties as required.

Job description

Starting Rate of Pay: $ 25.72 per hour

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is to provide a safe work environment by performing facility maintenance and repairs and providing oversight and coordination of vendor repairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintain and repair service center facility, shop, grounds and dock area
• Ensure compliance with all company standards and state and local fire and safety code requirements so the facility passes all inspections
• Act as a liaison and central point of contact for service center personnel for all facility maintenance needs
• Complete weekly facility, yard, and fence walks to assess for repairs or preventative maintenance and repair as needed: drywall, painting, basic plumbing and electrical, lighting and pothole repairs; basic preventative maintenance, including but not limited to, HVAC, EODs/levelers, dock/shop doors, fences, gates, etc.
• Drain drip drums and visually monitor the Fire Sprinkler System
• Repair or replace dock doors and EOD/levelers/bumpers; Repair pallet jacks
• Proactively apply ice melt to sidewalks and stairs, and perform snow removal and landscaping, if applicable
• Schedule all work with vendors, provide oversight on repairs, review Facility Services Agreements (FSA) scopes of work and ensure work is completed in a timely manner
• Work closely with the Facility Maintenance team to coordinate in-house and 3rd-party repairs to the facility and advise the team of any service/performance issues or delays
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
• Perform other duties as required
