Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department of Corrections, is seeking a Facility Maintenance Supervisor I in La Grange, KY. The role oversees maintenance on the grounds of Roederer Correctional Complex and directs inmate workers in daily tasks to ensure a safe, secure environment.

The position requires a high school diploma and at least three years of related maintenance experience. On-call 24/7, candidates must be prepared for extreme temperatures and follow safety procedures; weekends and holidays

Qualifications

• Substitution rules allow training/experience in related fields to substitute for education/experience.
• On-call 24 hours a day and exposure to extreme temperatures.

• Prioritizes and verifies completions of work orders.
• Requisitions maintenance tools and supplies as needed.

• Tracks assignment of tools and parts.

Description

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

Roederer Correctional Complex is seeking applicants for a Facility Maintenance Supervisor I position to perform maintenance duties on the grounds of the institution and determines work assignment to the inmate workers assisting in maintenance responsibilities.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Identifies maintenance needs or repairs and performs basic repairs of plumbing, electrical, and other maintenance issues.

• Requisitions maintenance tools and supplies and needed.
• Supervises and assists offenders in daily maintenance and repair tasks while maintaining a safe and secure working environment.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services or mechanical maintenance experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.) NONE

Working Conditions

Will be on call 24 hours a day. Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
