is seeking four part-time facility maintenance specialists for Recreational Sports at Oregon State University. This student role supports safe, functional spaces through preventive maintenance and basic repairs, up to 24 hours per week. As student employees, you will embody values and develop critical thinking, leadership and professionalism while assisting with electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks under limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university.
• Must meet academic standing requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible.
• Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on building facilities and equipment to ensure safe, functional spaces.
• Assist with diagnosing and repairing building systems and equipment.
• Support maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, motors, controls, and lighting.
• Complete general facility maintenance tasks, including lighting replacement.
• Execute electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks with minimal supervision.

Position Duties

• Perform preventative maintenance on building facilities and equipment, demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail to ensure safe and functional recreational spaces.

• Assist with diagnosing and repairing building systems and equipment, applying critical thinking and technical problem-solving skills.

• upport maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical systems (including pumps, motors, controls, and lighting), utilizing technology and operational knowledge under limited supervision.

• Complete general facility maintenance tasks, including lighting replacement, to support daily operations and user safety.

• Execute electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks independently or with minimal supervision, reflecting strong professionalism, adaptability, and accountability

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required

• First Aid, CPR/AED for the Healthcare Provider and DRS Bloodborne Pathogens certifications is required before employment begins and will be provided by the department upon hiring

Working Conditions/Schedule:

Period of Employment:
One academic year (continuing employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a 30 day probationary period and satisfactory job performance as evaluated by immediate supervisor). 8-24 hours per week. Early morning, late night and weekend hours may be required.

Compensation:
Student employees are paid an hourly wage consistent with the OSU Student Employment Pay Rate Guidelines. The Department of Recreational Sports identifies pay ranges base upon job duties, level of responsibility and complexity of the work to be performed.
