Job summary

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office seeks a skilled maintenance worker responsible for building trades, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry in secure facilities. You will lead a crew, supervise inmates, and ensure safety and compliance with HCSO policies.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus two years in building trades or vocational training, a valid driver’s license, on-call availability, and ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have HS diploma or GED and 2 years in building trades or equivalent vocational training.
• Must have a valid Driver’s license and be on call as needed.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
• Ability to supervise inmate workforce and ensure safety.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair facility structures and equipment.
• Supervise inmate workers on maintenance tasks.
• Coordinate with crew leader and Facilities Manager on priorities.
• Prepare work reports with materials used, costs and timelines.
• Schedule preventative maintenance and ensure deadlines are met.
• Manage inventory of materials and tools.
