Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

The Facility Maintenance Manager is responsible for working with the Director of Operations to oversee the day to day operations of the Facilities Maintenance Department. This position is responsible for ensuring that the general maintenance work of the Science Museum Oklahoma building is conducted in a safe and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Operations Director to manage the strategic objectives of the Facilities Maintenance Department to meet Science Museum Oklahoma goals.
  • Oversee day to day operations of the Facilities Maintenance for the Museum and the staff of the museum.
  • Coordinate hiring, scheduling, motivating, training, coaching, evaluating, disciplining and terminating of department staff.
  • Works on cross-departmental projects to ensure that Museum goals are met.
  • Ensures that projects are completed on schedule, on budget and with the highest quality and efficiency.
  • Responsible for assisting in the planning and adhering to departmental budget.
  • Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
  • Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work.
  • Determines materials, supplies, and equipment needs.
  • Ensures that work is performed according to OSHA regulations and Museum safety standards are met.
  • Inspects equipment for cleanliness and ensures it is working properly.
  • Ensure that maintenance of the building and grounds is conducted. Ensure that HVAC, electric, plumbing, roofing, painting and general repair work is performed as needed.
  • Make regular inspections of the building, grounds, roof and basement to identify maintenance needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Three (3) or more years of experience as a supervisor or lead worker over maintenance department or crew.
  • Five (5) or more years of maintenance experience in a professional setting or commercial building.
  • Apprentice or Journeyman license in a trade is a plus.
  • This position requires the employee to drive for business purposes in either their own vehicle or a vehicle provided by the Museum. Employees that drive for business purposes must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check and provide proof of insurance and a valid license to drive on an annual basis.

  • Work experience and knowledge of building maintenance including HVAC, electric, plumbing, roofing, painting and general repair work.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position works in an active and busy children’s museum setting. The position might also work in non-climate controlled areas of the museum such as the warehouse, machine shop and loading docks.

  • Work involves completing duties in dark, tight places and working off of a ladder.
  • Work may involve crawling crouching and climbing.
  • Work involves frequent standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

This position has been designated as a safety sensitive position. Safety sensitive positions include job duties that could affect the health and safety of the employee or others.

This position requires the employee to drive for business purposes in either their own vehicle or a vehicle provided by the Museum. Employees that drive for business purposes must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check and provide proof of insurance and a valid license to drive on an annual basis.
