Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a Facility Maintenance Helper to support maintenance across Moving Centers, Storage Centers and other facilities in a defined region. You will work with hand and power tools, perform basic maintenance, installation, repair and service, and assist with renovation sites.

Strong safety awareness and a valid driver’s license are required. High school diploma or equivalent, ability to lift 50 lbs, and willingness to participate in ongoing U-Haul education are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to perform physical tasks (lift up to 50 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Operate hand and power tools safely.
• Perform general maintenance, installation, repair, and servicing.
• Handle tasks including nailing, sawing, painting, and basic facility upkeep.
• Clean renovation sites after completion.
• Complete work requests promptly and professionally.
• Assist skilled workers as needed.
• Participate in ongoing U-Haul education through U-Haul University.

The Facility Maintenance Helper will assist in the facility maintenance of all U-Haul Moving Centers, Storage Centers and other U-Haul facilities within a geographical area.

Primary Responsibilities Include

• Effectively work with a variety of hand/ power tools.
• Perform general maintenance, installation, repair and service.
• Perform work requiring nailing, sawing, cutting, painting and basic facility maintenance
• Perform clean-up duties at renovation sites.
• Complete work requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Assists skilled workers in the performance of all duties when necessary.
• Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record to operate commercial motor vehicles
• Adhere to all local state (provincial) and federal vehicular regulations while driving.

Work Environment

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

Physical Demands

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
