Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Cedar Rapids seeks a Facility Electrician to maintain and repair hospital utilities, equipment and environmental systems. You will complete work orders, lead preventive maintenance, read blueprints, and collaborate with staff and contractors to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in electrical work, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a Journeyman certificate or equivalent. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' electrical experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Journeyman level program certificate or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Ability to read blueprints and plan system improvements.

Responsibilities

• Complete and facilitate basic and complex work orders and Preventative Maintenance.
• Serve as technical expert resource in electrical fields.
• Coordinate with staff and contractors under supervision.
• Perform testing and documentation per regulations and manufacturer specs.
• Communicate status of work orders to customers and departments.
• Assist in reducing utility usage and design improvements.
• Review contracted work for compliance with specs and design intent.
• Mentor Mechanics II and lead on-call issues within facility.
• Capture PM tasks and report progress to Lead.
