Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a skilled architect/industrial designer to contribute to transportation facilities in Baltimore, MD. You will develop master plans, create construction documents, and coordinate facility layouts with a BIM-centric workflow.

The role requires Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and MS Project proficiency, with strong attention to detail and excellent client-facing communication. Local candidates preferred for on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

Job description

As part of HDR's Transportation Business Group, you will help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Your work will directly support economic vitality, public safety, sustainable and resilient communities, and the quality of life of communities worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Facility programming, report writing, site master planning, developing specifications and construction documents
• Selection, coordination and layout of various aspects of design (vehicle maintenance equipment, site flow, etc.)
• Creating and using Building Information Modeling (BIM) to complete different levels of documents
• Submittal, shop drawing, and RFI review
• Conduct construction field observations
• Other design and engineering tasks as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in industrial design, facility planning, equipment layout, or workflow analysis (entry-level with a 4‑year degree and strong BIM skills considered)
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills with ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to interact with and present to client
• Exceptional level of accuracy and detail
• Local candidates preferred

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, industrial design or related field
• Command of Revit and AutoCAD, and knowledge of SketchUp
• Command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project)
• Working knowledge of LOD 300 requirements
