Job summary

Family Guidance Center of Alabama seeks a Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and functional classrooms, hallways, and common areas in our Head Start facilities. You will perform daily cleaning, light maintenance, and report hazards to the supervisor.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel up to 10% for meetings. You will work with staff, children, and families in a busy center environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Physical exam and background checks required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; may operate program vehicle.
• Travel up to 10% locally or long-distance for work-related meetings.

Responsibilities

• Cleans facilities daily and ensures areas are sanitized and hazard-free.
• Performs routine maintenance such as replacing light bulbs and maintaining equipment.
• Reports safety and sanitation hazards to supervisor.
• Maintains buildings and grounds; handles outdoor tasks as needed.
• Interacts with Head Start staff, children and families; participates in meetings and trainings.
