Job summary

Save the Children is seeking a Custodian to maintain safe, clean facilities across Head Start centers. You will perform cleaning, basic repairs, and safety checks while complying with applicable regulations and policies.

The role reports to the Center Director or Manager of Facilities and may be reassigned as needed for program operations. As a front-line representative, you will ensure a secure environment for children and families, uphold our values, and participate in minor facility upgrades

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of basic operations, tools, and terminology in building maintenance and repair.
• Ability to operate light trucks and cleaning equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions and take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Follow cleaning schedules for classrooms, kitchens, offices, bathrooms, and other areas.
• Identify hazards and report safety issues to supervisor.
• Perform routine safety checks of the facility and grounds.
• Replace light bulbs and perform minor maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain custodial supply inventory and MSDS records.
• Assist with minor repairs and facility upgrades as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure safety of children, families, and staff.
