Job summary

The County of San Mateo Sheriff’s Office is seeking a qualified Utility/Custodial Worker (Utility Worker II) for its correctional facilities to perform custodial tasks, basic equipment repair, and transport of materials, including operation of laundry services. The Utility Worker II is a journey-level class; under supervision, incumbents independently perform duties and may lead others.

The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, and safety-conscious, with flexibility for evenings/nights

Qualifications

• One year of experience in building maintenance, custodial work, or related.
• Knowledge of basic custodial services and equipment repair.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate custodial cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment or hand tools for cleaning and maintenance.
• Provide custodial services to medical exam rooms, restrooms, and lobbies.
• Instruct inmates, clients, or staff to perform work.
• Order, receive, and deliver supplies and equipment.
