Job summary

Harford County Sheriff's Office is seeking a dedicated security officer to maintain a visible presence across county facilities, including hearings and public areas.

The role requires MPCTC certification eligibility, a high school diploma or GED, and a clean driving record. You will patrol, screen entrances, monitor cameras and coordinate with the Safety Officer, while upholding public safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a law enforcement officer in good standing with MPCTC certification or recertification eligibility.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with ≤3 points and clean record (no DUI).
• Pass comprehensive background, medical, drug, polygraph and psychological screenings.
• No visible tattoos on face or head; tattoos allowed elsewhere if not offensive.
• Ability to work day, evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Patrol facilities and provide security at hearings.
• Screen entrances and assist with courtroom security.
• Monitor video surveillance and respond to alarms.
• Coordinate with county Safety Officer and maintain public relations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
