Job summary

PACS Group is seeking a cook to manage and operate the kitchen in a hospital or long-term care setting. The role reports to the Dietary Supervisor and requires preparing meals for residents in large quantities while following menus and portion controls.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 1 year of hospital/long-term care cooking experience, and a ServSafe certification requirement. Excellent teamwork and operating under supervision are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility for at least 1 year.
  • Must obtain and maintain ServSafe certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
  • Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Follow prepared menus and portion control guides.
  • Prepare special diets accurately.
  • Record food temperatures for meals.
  • Prepare pureed foods.
  • Assist with serving the different meals.
  • Clean cooking area and serving carts.
  • Report resident care concerns to Administrator or Director of Nurses.
  • Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
  • Make the presentation of food appealing to residents.
  • Cooperate with staff and supervision.
