Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Facility Condition Assessment Consultant focused on electrical and low voltage systems. The role involves traveling with a team to inspect diverse facilities, from hospitals to airports, and compiling detailed condition reports.

You will review documents, perform visual inspections, and develop replacement cost estimates using CBRE Turner & Townsend libraries. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Facility Management, Construction Management.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in facility condition assessments/inspections, facility operations, building design or construction, or facilities management.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards for existing facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review client documentation prior to and during inspections (drawings, reports, maintenance records).
  • Perform visual inspections of building systems and equipment including normal power, emergency power, lighting, vertical conveyance, and low voltage systems.
  • Evaluate system conditions with professional judgment and conformance to codes, accessibility, life safety, energy, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with client facilities staff to understand operations, investments, and needs.
  • Use tablets and mobile data collection software to document findings with photographic evidence.
  • Develop replacement and corrective cost estimates using CBRE Turner & Townsend cost libraries and vendor data.
  • Document findings in CBRE Turner & Townsend’s asset management and capital planning software.
  • Perform QA to ensure findings are accurate and aligned with scope.
  • Support client inquiries by providing clarification on assessment findings.

About the role

The Facilities Assessment Consultant performs condition assessments of building systems, equipment, and supporting site infrastructure, with a primary focus on electrical and low voltage systems. This role involves traveling with a team of professional assessors to inspect a wide variety of facility types, ranging from manufacturing and hospitals to airports, laboratories, and commercial buildings.

What you’ll do
  • Review client documentation prior to and during inspections (drawings, reports, maintenance records, etc.).
  • Perform visual inspections of building systems and equipment including normal power, emergency power, lighting, vertical conveyance, and low voltage systems.
  • Evaluate system conditions using professional judgment, including conformance with client standards and applicable codes related to accessibility, life safety, energy, and sustainability where required.
  • Collaborate with client facilities staff to understand operations, capital investments, and functional needs.
  • Use tablets and mobile data collection software to document findings and support condition assessments with photographic evidence.
  • Develop replacement and corrective cost estimates using CBRE Turner & Townsend cost libraries and vendor research when necessary.
  • Document findings in CBRE Turner & Townsend’s asset management and capital planning software.
  • Perform individual quality assurance to ensure findings are accurate, complete, and aligned with project scope.
  • Support client inquiries by providing clarification and guidance related to assessment findings.
What you’ll need

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Facility Management, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Facility condition assessments or inspections
    • Facility operations
    • Building design or construction
    • Property or facilities management
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards for existing facilities.
  • Experience performing quantity surveys and developing replacement cost estimates using RSMeans or similar data sets.
  • Experience evaluating facility conditions and performing lifecycle analysis with corrective cost recommendations.
  • Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Word, Excel).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize critical tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional registrations or technical certifications.
  • Multi discipline knowledge including architectural, structural, mechanical (HVAC and plumbing), electrical, and/or site utilities.
  • Experience conducting ASHRAE Level 1 and 2 energy audits
  • Government clearance (where applicable).
  • Driver’s license.
