Job description

Company Overview:

Smith Farms North is a vertically integrated microbusiness located in the heart of Minnesota's Northwoods. We cultivate premium flower and produce handcrafted solventless products under the Trail brand family, including Trail Joints, Trail Chews, and Trail Vapors. Our co-located retail storefront, Trailhead Cannabis Company, offers a rustic, welcoming consumer experience. Together, we're building a new standard in Minnesota cannabis: rooted in craft, guided by compliance, and shaped by the natural beauty of our surroundings.

We're not a corporate machine. We're a small team doing meaningful work, blending agriculture, manufacturing, and retail into something exceptional. If you're dependable, detail-oriented, and take pride in creating a clean and well-maintained workplace, this might be the place for you.

Position Overview:

The Facility Cleaning Technician is responsible for maintaining clean, sanitary, organized, and welcoming common areas throughout the Smith Farms North facility.

This is a hands-on role focused on routine and deep cleaning of hallways, restrooms, the employee break room, and other approved rooms that do not contain plant material. The position also supports supply restocking and removal of general trash and cardboard.

The Facility Cleaning Technician follows established cleaning procedures, uses supplies and equipment safely, and communicates facility or supply concerns to the Park Superintendent. Vegetation and cannabis waste are handled by designated team members and are not part of this role.

Schedule:

Mon/Wed/Fri 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (up to 30 hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Refill paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and other restroom supplies as needed
  • Empty restroom trash receptacles and replace liners
  • Monitor restrooms for cleanliness, supply needs, plumbing concerns, or damage and report issues promptly
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and fully stocked restrooms throughout the workweek
  • Use cleaning tools and supplies in a manner that prevents cross-contamination between restrooms and other facility areas
Employee Break Room Cleaning
  • Clean and sanitize the sink, countertops, tables, and other shared surfaces
  • Clean the coffee pot and microwave, including interior and exterior surfaces as appropriate
  • Wipe and clean the exterior of the refrigerator
  • Sweep and mop break room floors and remove crumbs, spills, and loose debris
  • Empty trash receptacles, replace liners, and maintain a clean and welcoming shared space
Waste Removal & Facility Support
  • Empty general trash cans throughout assigned facility areas and replace liners
  • Collect loose garbage and cardboard and transport it safely to the appropriate dumpsters or recycling areas
  • Break down cardboard when needed and keep disposal areas orderly
  • Maintain cleaning carts, tools, and supplies in clean, organized, and designated storage areas
  • Notify the supervisor when cleaning products, paper goods, liners, or other supplies need to be reordered
Safety, Sanitation & Compliance
  • Follow all facility access restrictions and clean only approved rooms that do not contain plant material unless specifically directed otherwise
  • Do not handle or dispose of vegetation, cannabis, or regulated product waste; immediately notify the appropriate team member when such material is identified
  • Follow product instructions, required PPE, and safe practices when using cleaning chemicals, ladders, step stools, and equipment
  • Place appropriate warning signs around wet floors or active cleaning areas and promptly report safety or maintenance concerns
  • Follow company sanitation, security, and compliance procedures at all times

  • Ability to recognize and report supply, maintenance, sanitation, or safety concerns
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to safely use cleaning tools, vacuums, mops, step stools, and approved cleaning products
