Job summary

Freedom House Recovery Center is seeking an RN/LPN for our Facility Based Crisis unit in Chapel Hill, NC. The ideal candidate will be licensed in North Carolina and have experience with MH/SUD populations. This is a full-time overnight position.

The RN/LPN will assist with health screenings, medical documentation, medication administration, and crisis intervention while collaborating with the Medical Director, PMHNP, and the clinical team.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed in North Carolina (RN or LPN).
• Experience working with mental health and substance use disorder populations is preferred.
• Ability to provide nursing screenings, interviews and evaluations.
• Ability to administer and monitor medications as prescribed.

Responsibilities

• Assist Medical Director and PMHNP with health screenings and physical exams.
• Provide nursing screenings, interviews and evaluations to inform treatment planning.
• Provide on-call support to Mobile Crisis Team.
• Complete required written documentation within specified timeframes.
• Provide medical care professionally and in line with standards.
• Maintain security and proper storage of medications.
• Oversee daily cleanliness and stock of medical area.
• Describe client strengths, preferences and needs in treatment planning.
• Document treatment/service plans for new clients.
• Monitor medications from prescribing physicians.
• Ensure Medicaid documentation is accurate.
• Administer and dispense medications and monitor dosages.
• Educate program topics and present information effectively.
• Provide crisis intervention and referrals promptly.
• Establish rapport and offer counseling to clients.

Specifically

• 1. Assists the Medical Director and PMHNP with health screenings and physical exams.
• 2. Provide nursing screenings, interviews and evaluations in a professional and engaging manner and clearly presenting the information to the medical and treatment team.
• 3. Provide on-call support to Mobile Crisis Team.
• 4. Complete the required written documentation within required timeframe
• 5. Provide medical care in a professional, compassionate and effective manner, and in keeping with established standards.
• 6. Maintain the security of the medications in the storage and dosing areas.
• 7. Inspect/oversee integrity of medical area ensuring that it is clean and well-stocked on a daily basis.
• 8. Provide treatment planning by describing strengths, preferences and needs; and identify treatment goals and strategies for each client assigned.
• 9. Complete and document the treatment/service plan when the client enters the service.
• 10. Monitor and document client medications from prescribing physicians both inside and outside of the organization.
• 11. Work with clinical staff to ensure appropriate documentation of Medicaid clients.
• 12. Administer and dispense medications and prepare and monitor medication dosages, ensuring that each client receives the proper dosage in a timely manner.
• 13. Assist with education of topics pertinent to the program. As a presenter is knowledgeable, effective and professional.
• 14. Provide crisis intervention and referrals in a manner that is prompt, effective and professional.
• 15. Establish a rapport and provide professional and effective counseling for clients.
