Job summary

United Airlines is seeking a Facilities Utility Specialist to join the Facilities Maintenance Operations team. You will perform tool and materials handling, routine equipment maintenance, and support for baggage systems in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions. Union representation and wage progressions are part of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent
• Valid state-issued Driver’s License
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to work any shift in a 24/7 operation
• Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions

Responsibilities

• Identify and check tools, test equipment and commodities in and out of the warehouse and manage service, cleaning, inventory storage and tooling
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as servicing, cleaning, and transporting equipment and materials
• Assist in operating the airline baggage system and support baggage handling operations
• Surface treat facility components with chemicals and sandblasting equipment
• General shop and housekeeping duties related to storage, break areas and work areas
• Support the department with transportation, inventory and accounting of parts and components
• Assist Technicians with tasks as needed
• Must work around the clock shifts, including weekends and holidays, outdoors in all weather conditions
• Shift assignments are bid and awarded by seniority
• Represented by IBT; salary increases coordinated per contract
• There is an initiation fee and monthly union dues
