Job summary

Merck & Co. in Wilson, NC seeks a Facility/Utilities Engineer to support the Plant Engineering team, focusing on mechanical system improvements and productivity initiatives. This role will lead capital projects and coordinate with Operations, Automation, and Quality to ensure uptime and process consistency.

The candidate will have 5+ years in facilities/utilities with cGMP experience, and be able to guide staff, perform deviations investigations, and manage budgets.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering or related technical field; strong, relevant work exp.
• 5+ years facility/utility experience with cGMP familiarity.
• Strong problem solving, technical writing, deviation investigation.
• Utility/HVAC and refrigerant system optimization experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead plant engineering improvement projects and productivity initiatives.
• Manage capital projects and equipment replacement/upgrades.
• Provide technical guidance to staff and contractors.
• Coordinate with Operations, Automation, and Quality teams.
• Develop reliable utility processes meeting cGMP requirements.
• Investigate deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Train maintenance staff as SME on plant utility systems.
• Oversee budgeting and resource allocation for projects.
