Job summary

The University of Georgia in Athens is seeking a Skilled Trades Worker to support the Welding Shop. This role assists senior trades personnel in maintaining and repairing mechanical and structural components of the campus built environment, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, steam, and water systems.

You will perform basic installation, repair, and replacement tasks under direct supervision, operate hand and powered tools, transport materials, and help with scaffolding and routine

Qualifications

• Apprentice or helper role in basic maintenance tasks.
• Basic measuring and calculation of fractions for installations.
• Experience with hand and power tools preferred.
• Knowledge of safety when using electrical and plumbing components.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic installation, repair, and replacement of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and steam systems.
• Maintain and inspect buildings and mechanical equipment for upkeep.
• Operate electric and battery-powered tools under direct supervision.
• Transport materials long distances and to multiple levels.
• Document actions and timekeeping; perform related duties as needed.
