Job summary

JLL in Shrewsbury, MA is seeking a proactive Facilities Technician to support vivarium operations, ensuring HVAC, electrical, plumbing and environmental systems meet strict compliance and performance standards.

You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, and basic carpentry or welding tasks, collaborating with Facilities and Research teams to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in general building repair and maintenance
• Ability to read, understand and follow SOPs for procedures, buildings and equipment
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Experience with CMMS or digital maintenance platforms is a plus

Responsibilities

• Conduct vivarium walkthroughs for cleanliness and compliance
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on vivarium equipment (HVAC, lighting, water systems)
• Respond to maintenance requests (plumbing, electrical, lighting) to minimize disruption
• Schedule and perform PM on HVAC, pumps, motors and building systems
• Carry out welding tasks (MIG/TIG/arc) for repairs
• Perform routine building inspections and safety checks, including IACUC-related tasks
