The Maryland Historical Trust, an agency of the Maryland Department of Planning, seeks a full-time Facilities Technician for Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum in Saint Leonard, MD. The role covers building, vehicle, mechanical, grounds maintenance and event support to ensure a safe, well-operated site.

Responsibilities include daily equipment checks, preventative maintenance, and monitoring security and BAS systems. Evening/weekend work is required as needed to support events and operations.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Experience: Three years of experience performing skilled trade work in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, locksmith, masonry, painting, or welding work.
• Note: Candidates may substitute additional years of experience for the required education on a year-for-year basis; military experience may substitute for required experience in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance.

Responsabilités

• Building Maintenance: Performs and supports routine building maintenance and repair, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, minor structural, interior, and decorative work; inspects buildings, identifies needs, and assists in updating maintenance plans.
• Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance: Ensures all JPPM vehicles and equipment—including portable units such as generators—are maintained according to schedule and required paperwork submitted to agencies; performs preventative maintenance and prepares for seasonal changes.
• Mechanical Systems Maintenance: Assists in coordinating maintenance for mechanical equipment; conducts inspections and preventative maintenance; operates BAS for temperature, humidity, and hot water settings.
• Grounds Maintenance: Inspects grounds for safety; maintains site appearance and clears trails; removes hazards to ensure visitor and staff safety.
• Event Monitoring & Facility Support: Monitors events, ensures spaces are prepared and secured, and provides information to renters; represents JPPM when supervisors are off-site.
• Security, Safety & Communication: Maintains logs, secures gates/buildings, responds to alarms, serves as first responder, and communicates with museum personnel and emergency services.
