Job summary

Metuchen-Edison YMCA in South Amboy, NJ is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming facility for members and staff. The role covers routine maintenance, repairs, custodial duties, room setups, and inspections to keep the branch operating efficiently.

Under the Senior Facility Director, you may assist at other YMCA locations as needed, supporting risk management and safety initiatives while representing the YMCA positively.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3 years of facility maintenance or related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and mechanical systems.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair of building systems, equipment, fixtures, and furnishings.
• Complete minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and general repairs.
• Set up and break down rooms for programs, meetings, events, and community activities.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
• Support safety initiatives and facility projects as assigned.
