Job summary

YMCA of Greater Long Beach is seeking an on-site Maintenance/Custodial worker in Lakewood, CA. You will perform cleaning, equipment upkeep, and basic repairs while assisting with pool sanitation and safety checks to ensure a welcoming, safe facility.

The role involves operating equipment, reporting issues, and supporting event setups. CPR/First Aid is preferred; a criminal clearance and health screenings are required.

Qualifications

• Six months or more of related experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
• Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
• Criminal Clearance, health screening with TB test and Drug test screening
• Complete all online training(s).
• CPR and First Aid preferred.
• Must have one year of experience with custodial or janitorial experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
• Operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Record and report repairs; perform repairs as directed.
• Ensure building and property security; report hazards.
• Set up and take down furniture for events.
• Keep janitor’s room neat and report supplies.
• Maintain outdoor landscaping and sprinkler systems repair.
• Assist in sanitation control for swimming pool and spa.
• Check YMCA for safety hazards and report deficiencies.
• Clean and inspect vehicles.
• Perform air conditioning filter changes.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
