Facilities Maintenance Technician – Build, Repair & Safety

Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the Facilities Director in preventive and ongoing maintenance across our Cameron Family YMCA (Santee), McGrath Family YMCA (Spring Valley), and Davis Family YMCA (La Mesa).

You will help with repairs, painting, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, and safety inspections, while keeping accurate records and contributing to a safe, welcoming environment for guests.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' of experience in facility maintenance, painting, carpentry or related field.
• Good working knowledge of building maintenance and facility equipment repairs incl. pool systems, HVAC, plumbing, irrigation, landscape, lock/key work, concrete repairs and minor electrical repairs; knowledge to maintain building code and compliance.
• Strong background in painting and general repairs preferred.
• Knowledge of hand and power tools, electrical, plumbing, flooring and tile, cardio and exercise equipment repair; understand mechanical systems.
• Understand the approved use of various chemicals and cleaning agents and follow MSDS directions.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (Adult and Child/Infant) within 30 days of hire from ARC/AHA/ISHI.

Responsibilities

• Assist in repairs, painting, roofing, fire safety, tile repair, minor electrical, HVAC preventative maintenance and plumbing.
• Assist with landscape management and improvements.
• Conduct extensive cleaning & housekeeping as necessary.
• Maintain maintenance records including equipment & small tools.
• Proactively participate in safety protocols.
• Repair cardio and fitness equipment as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and the pool/spa system.
• Assist Facilities Director on renovations and communicate issues affecting operation.
