Job summary

Hireology is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Maintenance Director in maintaining the community's physical plant. The role covers electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, refrigeration, and compliance with life-safety codes.

This full-time position requires at least 3 years in maintenance, ability to read/write/speak English, HS diploma or GED, and willingness to be on call 24/7. Benefits include medical, life insurance, disability, 401(k), and PTO.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum 3 years in a maintenance-related role.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Must have a HS diploma or GED.
• Proficient with a wide range of maintenance tools.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and building and fire safety codes.
• Skilled in building and equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Experience with a geriatric population is a plus.
• Customer-focused demeanor when interacting with staff and residents.
• Willing to be on-call for 24/7 emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on grounds and facilities, including mowing and cleaning areas.
• Repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other facility systems as directed.
• Maintain safe operations and fire prevention practices.
• Keep the plant in good repair and a safe, clean environment.
• Replace burned-out lights and perform high-place housekeeping.
• Service heating and cooling systems per manufacturer guidelines.
• Replenish maintenance supplies in work areas.
• Repair emergency breakdowns promptly.
• Collaborate with staff to maintain residents' safety.
• Prepare vacant rooms to rent-ready within 72 hours.
• Report wear and tear concerns to Executive Director.
• Inspect and test fire alarm and emergency systems; log results.
• Initiate efficiency programs to reduce waste and costs.
• Maintain logs of repairs and plan corrective actions.
• Maintain drains and mechanical rooms.
• Provide transportation for residents as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
