Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System in Ohio is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building system repairs. You will participate in construction and renovation projects and conduct preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.

The role requires meticulous work, ability to troubleshoot diverse systems, and collaboration with a team to keep patient areas safe and functional.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • One year experience in mechanical, electrical, carpentry, or painting work.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass the NCCER – Level 1 competency test within six (6) months of hire date into the role.
  • Ability to assess situational needs and problem solve.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a changing work environment.
  • Knowledge of computers.

Responsibilities

  • Reads gauges and records data in daily log associated with daily rounds.
  • Maintains ongoing preventative maintenance throughout facilities.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Reports to and communicates any problems to supervisor.
  • Works as a team member with other employees.
  • Maintains necessary stock to perform work assignments.
  • Responds to appropriate facility emergency codes and operates tools for projects.

Work Shift: Day Shift (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Overview of Position

Performs wide range of duties, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, building system repairs and installations. Works on construction and renovation projects. Performs preventative maintenance on mechanical and/or electrical equipment. Responds to patient and public needs appropriately.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  1. Reads gauges and records data in daily log associated with daily rounds.
  2. Troubleshoots and repairs minor HVAC problems.
  3. Troubleshoots and repairs minor plumbing problems.
  4. Troubleshoots and repairs minor refrigeration problems.
  5. Troubleshoots and repairs minor electrical problems.
  6. Maintains ongoing preventative maintenance throughout facilities.
  7. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  8. Reports to and communicates any problems to supervisor.
  9. Works as a team member with other employees.
  10. Maintains necessary stock to perform work assignments.
  11. Responds to appropriate facility emergency codes.
  12. Operates power and hand tools in completing assigned projects and renovations.
  13. Performs light carpentry duties, installs shelves, hangs pictures, replaces ceiling tiles.
  14. Obtains and replaces lamps.
  15. Attends in-services required by department and facility.
  16. Performs work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  17. Performs other functions as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. High school graduate or equivalency.
  2. One-year experience in mechanical, electrical, carpentry, or painting work.

  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions including hot, cold, rain, snow, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
  • Must be available for on-call work as assigned.
