Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System in Zanesville, Ohio, is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services worker to perform a variety of cleaning tasks during the Day Shift. The role supports patient care by maintaining safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environments with a focus on infection control and safety.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and learn cleaning industry standard and operating procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.

Responsibilities

  • Uses and maintains cleaning equipment properly and safely.
  • Performs all cleaning tasks and floor maintenance according to industry standards including isolation cleaning, while adhering to infection control standards.
  • Knowledge, usage and handling of all cleaning agents in a safe way using proper personal protective equipment.
  • Uses and maintains equipment used to perform tasks properly, safely and competently.
  • Handles, disposes of soiled linen, trash, infectious waste and hazardous waste according to mandated procedures and infection control standards.
  • Responds to all requests through Bed Tracking and Service Response Center in a proper and timely manner.
  • Handles all linen according to procedures and usage.
  • Maintains privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Participates in mandatory in-service meetings (e.g. TB testing, safety, HIPAA)
  • Speaks to patients and co-workers in a respectful manner.

Position Details: Work Shift: Day Shift (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Department: Environmental Services Overview of Position: Performs a variety of cleaning tasks in an orderly and timely fashion as not to disrupt patients, employees or public. Demonstrates competency in standard precautions, safety standards, and time and motion efficiencies to maintain safe, clean, aesthetically pleasing areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  3. 3. Promotes Patient and Employee Safety
    • Demonstrates safe Patient Handling (i.e. transfers, transport, care administration, nutrition, medication, etc.)
    • Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.)
    • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipment
    • Demonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness.
    • Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Able to bend, stretch, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
  2. Position will use a ladder, lift up to 100 pounds, and have visual clarity.
  3. Dexterity to operate various types of cleaning equipment and perform cleaning tasks.
