Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System is seeking an Evening Telemetry Technician to support patient care by collecting and transferring diagnostic information. The role focuses on EKG setup, lead placement and dysrhythmia recognition, with cross‑functional communication to nurses and coordinators.

The position emphasizes accurate data entry, equipment handling, and adherence to safety and policy. Evening shifts at the Central Telemetry department offer part‑time hours and patient‑centered care

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalency required.
  • Ability to read, write and explain or describe information to patients/customers and hospital staff.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Entry level to one-year experience in allied health field.
  • BCA knowledge.
  • Successfully completes basic cardiac arrhythmia classes (new hires).

Responsibilities

  • Accurately performs computer order entry.
  • Measures, records and mounts EKG strips as per policy.
  • Identifies basic and major dysrhythmia and reports changes to RN.
  • Keeps equipment available by returning it and locating missing items.
  • Communicates with charge nurse, clinical coordinator and manager; checks memo/books and mailbox weekly.
  • Operates, calibrates, cleans and maintains EKG equipment.
  • Performs EKG procedures including patient positioning, lead placement and artifact troubleshooting.
  • Obtains patient information and demographics for orders.
  • Orders supplies as needed through department procedures.

Work Shift: Evening Shift (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 16 Department: Central Telemetry

Overview of Position

Is responsible for the gathering and transfer of technical, diagnostic and clinically related information in order to facilitate quality and timely patient care services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Accurately performs computer order entry. Including appropriate downtime procedure.
  • Measures, records and mounts EKG strips as per policy.
  • Accurately identifies basic and major dysrhythmia and reports changes to RN.
  • Takes initiative to keep equipment readily available by putting it away and tracking it down when missing.
  • Demonstrates effective communication strategies by keeping charge nurse, clinical coordinator and manager informed, reading communication and memo books and checking mailbox at least every week.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills for equipment use. Includes set up, operation, calibration, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills for EKG procedures including positioning patient, proper lead placement, troubleshooting artifact and adjustment to voltage and paper speed.
  • Ensures that patients receive proper instruction and collects necessary patient information/demographics.
  • Orders supplies when needed through department procedures.
